Whether or not you decide to use an electric kettle or a stovetop kettle can be based on a number of different factors. If you want to enjoy an amazing cup of tea you must have the correct equipment.

Many people may not own a kettle at all and opt to heat their water in a microwave. However, what they don’t realize is that doing this can bring the water beyond its boiling point, which can destroy the flavor of the tea. It is also difficult to achieve lower heat water, which is necessary for green and white teas. So if you don’t already own a kettle, you may want to get your hands on one.

Electric kettles
Tests conducted on kettles to decide which were more energy efficient have found that electric kettles win. Electric kettles outperformed stovetop kettles on both electric stoves and gas stoves. They are also more energy efficient than microwaving your water.

If you don’t have a lot of time on your hands, electric kettles heat water far more quickly than a stovetop kettle does. It could take almost ten minutes just to heat water on a stove.

Another benefit of electric kettles over stovetop kettles is that many of these kettles have automatic shut off settings. The biggest downside of this is that you might end up forgetting you were even boiling water, and then have to boil the water all over again.

Electric kettles are also a wonderful choice for those who are avid tea drinkers and enjoy a large variety of tea types. Many electric kettles come with various settings to help you make the perfect cup of tea depending on which type you are brewing.

The portability of an electric kettle is an added bonus. As long as you have an electrical outlet near by you will be able to use your kettle.

Stovetop Kettles
A downside to electric kettles over stovetop kettles is that more care must be taken to keep them clean to prevent any damage to the heating element. Mineral deposits can accumulate at the bottom of the kettle, which will make them less efficient. Stovetop kettles on the other hand are less susceptible to this kind of damage.

Stovetop kettles are great for situations when you don’t have electricity. They could come in handy during a power outage or even if you have a camping vacation. Stovetop kettles are a good choice for people who already own many kitchen appliances and may not have the extra outlets available to plug in their electric kettles.

The biggest benefit is that stovetop kettles are the budget choice. If you don’t have much money to spare, you may want to go for a stovetop kettle over an electric kettle.

Some people love the old-fashioned feeling and ritual of making tea using a good ole stove top kettle. Some people love the sound of the stovetop kettle whistling, signaling to them that it’s time to brew a cup of delicious tea!
